الملخص:Enamel hypoplasia is an incomplete or defective formation of the organic matrix of dental enamel, which compromises the morphology, color, and translucency of enamel teeth. There are different causes for the appearance of these lesions. Among them, we find local and systemic factors. This alteration causes changes that compromise the esthetics of the smile and sensitivity of the teeth, which also increases the susceptibility to caries. We conducted the present literature review to determine the prevalence of enamel hypoplasia in children under five years of age. The present study is descriptive, analytical, bibliographic, and crosssectional, in which we included 39 scientific articles, considering the inclusion criteria obtained from different databases, which were organized in the Microsoft Excel program version 2019 and analyzed employing frequency tables to respond to the proposed objectives. The results obtained were as follows; the estimated prevalence of enamel hypoplasia in children under five years of age in the studies analyzed is 6.77%, the gender most susceptible to enamel development defects is male, with 34.39%, and we also found that the dental piece most affected by this pathology is the upper central incisors
