| Sumari: | Polypharmacy is the intake of three or more drugs, is very common in older people due to pluripathology outstanding to physiological changes of aging, there are factors that can lead to complications such as overdose, increased risk of adverse effects. The research called "POLYPHARMACY IN THE ADULTS WHO RECEIVE ATTENTION IN THE CENTRO DE SALUD TYPE C OF CATAMAYO". whose objective was to determine the frequency of polypharmacy in this age group. A descriptive-transversal type study was implemented. 100 people over 65 years of both sexes were considered as samples, for the collection of information the interview was used as a technique which allowed to determine that 44% of the population are between the ages of 65 - 75 years, dominating the female sex, 85% of the population suffer from diseases, with the most frequent cardiovascular diseases with 35%, followed by musculoskeletal, endocrine pathologies, nutritional, metabolic with 16 %, 14 % respectively. In relation to the consumption of drugs it is determined that 78% consume between three and more than five drugs per day, considered as polypharmacy. It was evidenced that the most consumed prescribed drugs are those of cardiovascular type such as losartan, followed by systemic hormonal preparations such as levothyroxine, gastric protectors such as omeprazole, and mineral supplements such as calcium, the most self-prescribed drugs are paracetamol, followed by anti-influenza, and vitamins.
