Ամփոփում:The purpose of the present work purpose was to evaluate sanitary management and husbandry of 200 dog in 4 neighborhoods in Loja, Ecuador: Motupe, Ciudad Vic- toria, Ciudad Alegr´ıa y Zamora Huayco. Two-hundred surveys for dog-owners were carried out during November 2018-February 2019. Results showed that dog popula- tion consisted of mostly defined-bred individuals (54,5 %; n = 109), in which 32 % (n = 35) were located in Zamora Huaico. In relation to breeds, most dogs were Pekinge- se (17,13 %), French Poddle (15,57 %), Schnauzer (13,24 %), and Golden Retriever (8,56 %). Most individuals were males (60 %), and females were (40 %). With regards to age, fifty-seven per cent of dogs were between 1 and 5 years, 32,5 % were older than 5 year, and 2 % were younger than 3 months. Most dog-owners fed their dogs with commercial balanced food of Procan§R Brand (64,5 %) and at a twice-a-day frequency (45,5 %). Only, fifteen per cent of dogs received food supplementation. In relation to husbandry, ninety-eight per cent of dogs had free-ranging condition within owner’s houses, and seven per cent were chained. Daily cleaning was carried out by 79,5 % of dog owners. Finally, with respect to sanitary management, only 44 % of dog were bathed once a month,84,5 % received veterinary visits, in which 92 % of dogs were desparasitized and 48,5 % received anti-rabies vaccine and 43,5 % recei- ved 5-way vaccine.
