Shrnutí:Social networks have a great impact on electoral campaigns, due to their reach and high degree of interaction that occurs in them. The purpose of this research is to demonstrate how social networks have changed the strategies and ways of campaigning, for this, the presidential elections of 2021 in Ecuador are observed. Considering that social networks have generated new messages and strategies of dissemination and persuasion, this research highlights the level of interaction they generate, their benefits, as well as the use that political parties and leaders attribute to them. Among the main results, it is highlighted that the largest social network that was used in the 2021 electoral campaign in Ecuador has been Facebook, where informative material with a higher level of interaction is disseminated, being in a greater percentage published in video format, since having this tool makes it preferred by those in charge of the candidates' social networks. In addition, it is possible to infer that there is no clear relationship between the use of social networks and the intention to vote since it was observed that the candidates with greater interaction in social networks fail to transfer that support to the polls.
