Opis
Streszczenie:The objective of the curricular integration work was to implement the PECS image exchange communication system to improve communication and social interaction skills in a student with Autism Spectrum Disorder, in second grade of the "Educare" Fiscomisional Educational Unit, the research had a descriptive qualitative approach, quasi-experimental and transversal design, case study method and the techniques and instruments used were the field diary and the ADOS-2 Test for the collection and analysis of the information. The results of the ADOS-2 Test (module 2) before the intervention the student presented social affections and restrictive and repetitive behavior domain (communicative skills and social interaction) in a high level of difficulties associated to the autistic spectrum. Based on these results, the application of the 6 phases of the PECS system (physical exchange, increased spontaneity, discrimination, sentence structure, requests, response and comments) was considered as a psycho-pedagogical intervention, the findings demonstrate the effectiveness of the PECS system, which evaluated after the intervention with the instrument and the field diary shows a medium and low level of difficulties related to communication skills and social interaction. In conclusion, it is essential to highlight the usefulness of the PECS system for the improvement of the communicative and social interaction areas in cases of students with ASD, which is why it is recommended to use it not only with people with ASD but also in cases of students with or without specific educational support needs, thus benefiting their social and educational development.
