Summary:The main objective of this thesis is the hydraulic drive design for vibro-rammers that consolidates a technological idea to the change which these machines can choose. A description of the types of vibro-rammers used in the locality is made, operational characteristics of each of them are described and recommendations are provided to select the type of hydraulic motor appropriate to the project requirements. Within the design a proposal of replacement of the driveline is made. Replacement alternatives are evaluated after considering factors such as spare parts availability, vibration resistance, and lifetime. Aspects such as the required power, the required hydraulic pressure, speed control and the applied force during the compaction process are considered. The hydraulic components that will make up the new system are defined and optimized to ensure reliable performance in the equipment through simulation. In conclusion, this thesis offers an essential approach to the hydraulic drive design, with a proposal to replace driveline components and a brief description of the foot compactors that are fit in the system. The results and recommendations presented in the research can be useful to improve the efficiency and lifetime of compaction equipment in the construction industry.
