The ageing is associated to changes in the physiological reserve of every organ and system of the human body. These changes are affected negatively if they meet associates with bad nutrition, sedentarism, deficient social and familiar networks, cognitive problems and inadequate control of chronic diseases. The old adult can develop a state of vulnerability or fragility that increases the risk to suffer disability and dependence, if it is seen exposed to a stressful event as an acute disease or unbalanced chronicle. The general goal of this research is. Determining the prevalence of the syndrome of Fragility in the old Adult and the impact that it has on the state of mind. A descriptive study, transversal, was carried out. The information was gathered through Test of Edmonton to determine the state of fragility, and the test of Yesavage to determine state of depression and sheet collecting data to determine the risk factors associated with frailty syndrome. The prevalence of frailty syndrome in the study is made of 47.7%, depression is a risk factor that influences directly on it with a prevalence of 44.4% of the population of the elderly involved in this study. According to gender prevalence is higher in female gender with 25%; while the male is 22.7%. Depression is a risk factor involved in the frailty syndrome, which occurs in 47.7% of older people are depressed; 44.4% are very depressed. It concludes in this investigation that the prevalence of fragility syndrome as assessed according to the scale of Edmonton, in older adults is 47.7% and depression is 44.4% Keywords: Ageing, Fragile, Syndrome, Prevalence. |
