Description
Résumé:The present investigation was carried out in the Campana-Malacatos Irrigation System, specifically in the San José neighborhood, whose location is approximately 8 km from the parish capital, and 30 km from the city of Loja at a height of 1625. Being the main objective of the present investigation to contribute to the determination of technical parameters on the water needs of the pepper crop (Capsicum annuum), with the purpose to improve the efficiency of the water use, in the sector San José, belonging to the system Of irrigation Campana-Malacatos, proposing: 1). Calculate the evapotranspiration of the reference crop (ETo) through the application of the Penman-Monteith method. 2). Calculate the evapotranspiration of the pepper crop (ETc), in its different phenological phases, using the direct method of volumetric lysimeter. 3). To determine the crop coefficient (Kc) considering the ETo calculated with the Penman-Monteith method and the ETc, calculated with the volumetric lysimeter method, for the phenological phases of the pepper crop. The phenological phases considered were: vegetative growth (35 days), flowering and fruiting (21 days), fruit development (30 days) and harvest (90 days); For a total culture cycle of 176 days after transplantation. The sowing area was 42.00 m2, which had two lysimeters of 1m2 each. The cultivation that was implanted a pepper of Nataly variety and a density of planting 0,60 between rows and 0,25 between plants. The reference evapotranspiration (ETo) was estimated by the Penman-Monteith method (FAO) with the aid of Cropwat software, obtaining a higher value that occurs in the harvest phase of 4.37 mm / day, while the lowest value Is presented in the development phase of the fruit with 3.11 mm/day. On the other hand, the crop evapotranspiration (ETc) that was estimated through the volumetric lysimeter, determined that the highest ETc value is presented for the harvest phase with 3.70 mm / day, while the lowest value occurs in the Vegetative growth with 1,975 mm / day. In this way the kc is given by a relation: Kc = ETc / ETo in each of the phenological phases. The values resulting from Kc presented an increasing behavior until the development phase of the fruit and a decrease during the harvest phase, the values for the phenological phases were: vegetative growth 0.51, flowering and fructification 0.69, fruit development 1.01 and harvest 0.85 Finally, it was determined that the total water requirement for the vegetative period of the crop is 1124.43 mm, equivalent to 11244.3 m3 / ha, obtaining a production of 58 ton / ha. Key words: Phenological phases, lysimeter, evapotranspiration, water needs, irrigation.
