| Achoimre: | The present study was aimed to investigate the prevalence of Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 patients seen in outpatient Zumba Basic Hospital, to comply was raised methodology: transversal, descriptive, bibliographic, field. The medical records of users, in which the prevalence of diabetes mellitus is 34.41% was revised. the technique of the survey questionnaire applied his instrument to identify the sociodemographic characteristics of a population of 170 users in which the female predominates with 57.65%, age 71 and older with 48.24% mixed race ethnicity with 100%, marital status married to 58.24%. Risk factors influencing type 2 diabetes mellitus are users who do not exercise with 73.53% followed by unhealthy diet based on fast food with 41.18%, on a family history predominates with 33.33% by his mother, the body mass index in which 17.05% are in normo weight, overweight 51.17%, 14.70% with grade I obesity, with 10% obesity grade II and grade III obesity 7,05%, once obtained the results an action plan was implemented through educational activities on diabetes mellitus 2 home visits based on basic knowledge and preventive measures to improve the lives of diabetic patients and family welfare.
