Тойм: | The objective of this research was to compare flotation parameters in the recovery of copper in the “Valle del Quimi” sector, Zamora Chinchipe province, Ecuador. Laboratory tests were carried out in which the main factors of the flotation process were evaluated, such as: particle size, pH, reagent dosage (sodium isobutyl xanthate collector and F-501 foaming) and residence time, in order to determine the optimal values to maximize copper recovery. The efficiency of the flotation process was evaluated from an ore with a head grade of 0.62% Cu. Grinding tests presented that a grinding time of 3.3 minutes frees the material to the appropriate size for flotation. pH tests demonstrated that increasing the pH improves copper recovery, reaching a maximum of 89.05% with a pH of 9.42. Tests of the sodium isobutyl xanthate collector reagent revealed that the optimal dose is 4 ml and it achieved a recovery of 92.78% and tailing with a low copper grade (0.0299% Cu), which ensures a good separation of sulfides from the gangue. The results of the F-501 foaming reagent tests showed that a dose of 3 drops maximizes recovery, with a value of 92.78%, while higher or lower doses reduced the process efficiency. Finally, in residence time tests, it was observed that copper recovery increased up to 13 minutes, but began to decrease at 14 minutes, suggesting that a longer flotation time may be detrimental to the quality of the concentrate. The maximum recovery achieved in the tests was 92.78%, which highlights the importance of analyzing and adjusting the process variables and the values of each one to achieve the highest recovery and high quality of the concentrate. This study contributes to a better understanding of the flotation of sulfide minerals in the southeastern region of Ecuador. |
