| Izvleček: | The Menopause is a process that permit the beginning of a new evolutionary stage in the life of the woman, it is characterized for showing physiological, psychological, social and cultural changes; is a transition time of ending the reproductive capacity of women. According to this problem, this descriptive study titled “KNOWLEDGE AND MYTHS ON MENOPAUSE IN WOMEN OF THE QUARTER THE FREEDOM”, the present research work has as aimed to identify the knowledge and myths about menopause whit women in childbearing age of La Libertad neighborhood of the Loja city, during the period September 2014 to August 2015, and ways and media for those they acquired the knowledge. The total was integrated by 65 women of childbearing age; the instrument used was the survey and presentation of the data was presented on simple frequency tables. The analysis was based on the literature according to the theoretical framework obtained the following results; the largest number of women participants was at ages 20-39 years. For other hand the knowledge about menopause, the study population with secondary school, and university students have a good knowledge about it. With reference about myths and menopause women at different levels of education indicated that in this period the reproductive organs atrophy, they experienced pain and increased risk of developing breast cancer. The sources to obtain information to the knowledge were family, friends and through medical appointment. Keywords: knowledge, myths, menopause. |
