Description
Summary:Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome 2 (SARS-CoV-2), has a varied clinical and laboratory course. It is necessary to investigate the clinical and laboratory prognostic factors of severe COVID-19, in patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Isidro Ayora Hospital in Loja, with a cross-sectional, retrospective study with a mixed, analytical approach, from April 2020-April 2021 in 102 medical records of patients diagnosed with confirmed COVID-19. Age ≥60 years was observed in 62.75% (n=64), male 63.73 (n=65). Comorbidities, hypertension 57.89% (n=44), DMT2 46.05% (n=35), obesity 32.89% (n=25). The relationship between time of illness and clinical severity ̃²c > (27.29 > 5,23)(NC 95% and 5% error). Male sex oxygen saturations <80%, 64.62% (n=42); respiratory rate (RR) >30 rpm 53.85% (n=35). In ≥ 60 years, oxygen saturation < 80%, 57.81% (n=37) and RF > 30 rpm 51.56% (n=33). Older than 60 years, dyspnea 20.00% (n=64) and shortness of breath 20.00% (n=64); male sex with dyspnea 19.34% (n=65) and shortness of breath 19.34% (n=65). Laboratory CRP > 5.0 mg/L 92.16% (n=94); LDH > 480.0 U/L 57.84% (n=59); ferritin ≥ 400 ng/ml 55.88% (n=57); interleukin 6 > 9 pg/ml, 33.33% (n=34), serum glucose > 109.00 mg/dl, 66.7% (n=68). PAFI (arterial oxy pressure and oxygen inspiration)100 to 200 moderate, 52.94% (n=54); neutrophils > 65%, 97.6% (n=99), lymphocytes < 30.50% 85.29% (n=87 and leukocytes >10 10^3 u/L 66.67%
