| Zusammenfassung: | The objective of this investigation was to verify if the addition of antioxidants to the semen extender maintain seminal quality after cryopreservation. Two antioxidants, vitamin E and vitamin C were used at a concentration of 2mM and 2.5mM respectively. The study was carried out using Creole cattle, Encerado and Negro Lojano biotype of 2 to 6 years old, a total of 12 ejaculates (3 ejaculated by bull) were collected using artificial vagina and macroscopic (Volume and density) and microscopic characteristics were analyzed ( total motility, progressive motility, sperm vitality and morphological abnormalities). Later, it was divided into 4 aliquots for the different treatments T1 (Control Triladyl), T2 (Control Andromed), T3 (Triladyl + vitamin C) and T4 (Triladyl + vitamin E) and a 1: 1 pre-dilution was performed, then we proceeded to make a total dilution by adjusting to 50 million spz / ml and packaging in 0.5 ml straws; it was maintained at an equilibrium time of 12 hours at +5 ° C, subsequently subjected to nitrogen vapor 5 cm over the liquid nitrogen level for 5 minutes and then immersed in liquid nitrogen at -196 ° C. After thawing, optical microscopy was used to assess the characteristics of total motility, individual motility, sperm vitality and morphological abnormalities. The Completely randomized design (CRD) was used to evaluate the effect of the addition of vitamin E and vitamin C to semen extender and differences between biotype. In conclusion there is a statistical difference (P<0.05) between treatments and biotype, where T4 (Triladyl + vitamin E) has better characteristics in terms of total motility, progressive motility, sperm vitality and morphological abnormalities versus control treatments; Encerado biotype has better seminal quality (P<0.05) than the Negro Lojano biotype in both fresh and post-thaw semen.
