| Tóm tắt: | The general objective of this research was to develop a financial education and personal finance program aimed at young people in Puyango. Thus, it was necessary to identify young people’s level of financial knowledge and financial management to know how important financial education is in their daily activities and what behavioral factors this financial learning produces in the administration of their personal finances. To collect the data, a survey was applied to a sample of 293 young people from the urban sector of Puyango. The survey comprised 24 questions that were designed according to the PISA test, which allows us to know people’s level of financial knowledge. The results show that the participants manage their personal finances well since they frequently practice budgeting, which encourages the habit of saving money. Moreover, it was known that the young people of Puyango have a medium level or level 3 of financial knowledge, which means that they do not know about financial products and services. For that reason, a financial education program was designed and implemented. The results obtained were favorable since the participants were able to reach level 5 of financial knowledge. Hence, the participation of young people in financial education programs should be encouraged because these programs strengthen financial culture and improve people’s financial skills to make appropriate and informed financial decisions. |
