description This research work entitled ACTIVE STRATEGIES AND THEIR INFLUENCE ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF LISTENING AND SPEAKING SKILLS OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE WITH THE STUDENTS OF 8th, 9th and 10th YEARS OF BASIC EDUCATION AT UNIDAD EDUCATIVA "LA PORCIÚNCULA" HIGH SCHOOL, ACADEMIC PERIOD 2012-2013, was developed to characterize how active strategies applied by teachers facilitate the development of listening and speaking skills. The scientific, descriptive, analytical-synthetic and explicative methods were used to develop every part of the work. A survey was applied to teachers and students to verify the hypotheses through a logical analysis of the results and the descriptive statistics was used to represent the data in tables and graphs. The results showed that teachers apply active strategies and extra activities, which help and motivate the students to improve their listening and speaking skills and increase the students‟ performance in class.

The results showed that teachers apply active strategies and extra activities, which help and motivate the students to improve their listening and speaking skills and increase the students‟ performance in class.presente trabajo titulado ESTRATEGIAS ACTIVAS Y SU INFLUENCIA EN EL DESARROLLO DE LAS HABILIDADES DE ESCUCHA Y HABLA DEL IDIOMA INGLÉS CON LOS ESTUDIANTES DE 8vo, 9no Y 10mo AÑO DE EDUCACIÓN BÁSICA DE LA UNIDAD EDUCATIVA “LA PORCIÚNCULA", PERÍODO ACADÉMICO 2012 - 2013, fue desarrollado para caracterizar cómo las estrategias activas aplicadas por los docentes facilitan el desarrollo de las habilidades de escucha y habla. Los métodos científico, descriptivo, analítico-sintético y explicativo, fueron utilizados para desarrollar cada parte del trabajo. Una encuesta fue aplicada a docentes y estudiantes, para verificar la hipótesis a través del análisis lógico de los resultados y la estadística descriptiva para representar los datos en cuadros y gráficos.
