Résumé:Exclusive Breastfeeding (LME, as its acronyms en Spanish), is the supply of breast milk in a unique way until six months of the infant without adding any other food or even water, the benefits are countless for both baby and mother. According to the UNICEF (2013), only 39% of children in the 2012 received breast milk exclusively. In addition, it is important to mention the attachment and the family functionality (FF, as its acronyms in Spanish) where this binominal is immersed. The objective of this study was to relate the LME with the FF, and the mother-child rate attachment in children younger than six months of age. The study is prospective analytical cross-sectional study was conducted with a sample of 86 mothers, initially in the Obstetrics-Gynecology service in the “San Vicente de Paul” Hospital from the Canton of Passage, and a monitoring to three and six months of age. A semi structured survey was used for the sociodemographic information gathering; the LME was confirmed though direct observation; the FF was evaluated with the FF SIL test; the mother-child attachment with the mother-child attachment rate test. The data were analyzed using the statistical test of chi, p value, Cramer’s V and OR (Odds Ratio) with a CI 95%. It was determined that there is a smaller proportion of mothers with LME of 43%, which 91,89% belong to functional families and had an optimal attachment rate of 2.70%; the OR and the attachment index, a risk factor or LME protection. In conclusion, the FF and the attachment rate does not relate statistically with the LME. Keywords. Non-exclusive breastfeeding, optimal attachment, family functionality.
