This research aimed to identify the microorganisms in the rhizosphere of Babaco (Vasconcellea heilbornii var. pentagona) in the province of Loja, using traditional methods. For this purpose, soil samples were taken from Babaco plantations in Chuquiribamba and Saraguro to obtain isolates in order to conduct morphological characterization and ascertain their biological effectiveness as an antagonist against Fusarium oxysporum. Isolates were extracted from a total of nine soil samples using serial dilution. Subsequently, from the purified isolates the morphometric identification of each fungal potential antagonist MVB was conducted. Based on their morphological and macroscopic characteristics, taking into account their appearance, color and surface of the colony grown on a PDA medium, bacteria testing was performed for characterization identification in Kliger, MacConkey, catalase, gram staining agars, LPGA agar and slant agar. Eventually quantitative tests of fungal antagonism using two isolates of Fusarium oxysporum (ALM2 and QUI2) were performed against Penicillium sp for its high content of conidia and for the Fungal Bacterium confrontation, the same isolates of Fusarium oxysporum against the Bacillus sp isolates were used to demonstrate the best macro, microscopic and biochemical characteristics. The relevance of this work is part of creating guidelines for the determination of rhizosphere microorganisms’ antagonists causing soil fungi diseases in economically important crops such as Babaco.

The relevance of this work is part of creating guidelines for the determination of rhizosphere microorganisms’ antagonists causing soil fungi diseases in economically important crops such as Babaco.La actividad agrícola y la seguridad alimentaria se proyectan como actividades principales dentro de la economía nacional, en el Ecuador ha cobrado mucha importancia en los últimos años, se destaca actualmente el auge que existe en la producción de cultivos agrícolas no tradicionales y ancestrales, uno de estos es el cultivo de babaco, su origen está en los valles de la provincia de Loja. La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo identificar los microorganismos asociados a la rizósfera del Babaco (Vasconcellea heilbornii var. pentagona) en la provincia de Loja, mediante métodos tradicionales. Para ello se realizaron muestreos en suelos con plantaciones de babaco en las localidades Chuquiribamba y Saraguro para obtener aislados, con la finalidad de realizar caracterización morfológica y conocer su efectividad biológica como antagonista contra Fusarium oxysporum. Los aislamientos se realizaron de un total de nueve muestras de suelo por medio de diluciones seriadas. Posteriormente, a partir de los aislados purificados se procedió a la identificación morfométrica de cada aislado fúngico posibles antagonista de la MVB, en base a sus características morfológicas y macroscópicas, tomando en cuenta su aspecto, color y superficie de la colonia desarrollada en medio PDA, para la caracterización de bacterias se realizó pruebas en medio Kliger, Mackonkey, catalasa, tinción gram, medio LPGA y Agar inclinado, Finalmente se realizaron pruebas cuantitativas de antagonismo Hongo-Hongo, donde se utilizó dos aislados de Fusarium oxysporum (ALM2 y QUI2), frente a Penicillium sp por su alto contenido de conidios y para el enfrentamiento Bacteria-Hongo, se utilizaron los mismos aislados de Fusarium oxysporum, frente al aislado de Bacillus sp, por presentar mejores características macro, microscópicas y bioquímicas.
