The present study aimed to determine the presence of cognitive impairment, identify the nutritional status and know the relationship between both variables in older adults of the Chontacruz neighborhood in the city of Loja. The study had a quantitative cross-sectional cohort approach, with a sample of 56 participants, who were given informed consent, the Pfeiffer questionnaire (to measure cognitive impairment in older adults) and the Mini Nutritional Assessment to evaluate nutritional status. Regarding cognitive impairment, it was found that 28.56% presented mild impairment, moderate impairment with 23.21% and severe impairment with 7.15%, with respect to distribution according to sex and age, the female sex prevailed, aged 60-74 years. The nutritional status showed that 42.85% were at risk of malnutrition, 39.29% were normal and 17.86% were malnourished, with a predominance of females between 60-74 years of age. El presente estudio tuvo como finalidad determinar la presencia de deterioro cognitivo, identificar el estado nutricional y conocer la relación entre ambas variables en adultos mayores del barrio Chontacruz de la ciudad de Loja. El estudio tuvo un enfoque cuantitativo de cohorte transversal, con una muestra de 56 participantes. a quienes se les aplicó el consentimiento informado, el cuestionario de Pfeiffer (para medir el deterioro cognitivo de adultos mayores) y el Mini Nutritional Assessment para evaluar el estado nutricional. Respecto al deterioro cognitivo se evidenció que el 28.56% presento leve deterioro, moderado deterioro con 23,21% y severo deterioro 7,15%, en cuanto a la distribución según sexo y edad prevaleció el sexo femenino de 60-74 años. El estado nutricional se observó que 42,85% presentan riesgo de desnutrición, 39.29% se encuentran normales y 17,86% presentan desnutrición, predominando el sexo femenino entre el rango de edad 60-74 años.
