| Resumo: | Vaginal infections are now a serious public health problem, being one of the main reasons for consultation more common in women of childbearing age. Although these entities are benign can lead to a number of serious complications such as vaginitis, endometritis, tubo-ovarian abscesses, infections and obstetric complications during pregnancy and postpartum. In this situation the present research was developed, in order to determine the main etiological agents causing vaginal infections by analyzing physical, chemical and microscopic vaginal discharge, and identify the main factors causing the same hygiene; develop as a study descriptive and cross-sectional, with a sample of 51 women of childbearing age belonging to the border area of the Canton Neighborhood Pasallal Bald. A survey was conducted , we investigated information such as a history of vaginal infections, frequency of visits to the gynecologist and private toilet, type of soap used for personal hygiene and use of sanitary napkins during menstrual.Una cycle time samples collected, physical, chemical and microscopic analysis of vaginal secretion, reaching conclusions are made: in the study group, Gardnerella vaginalis was found in 15 cases represented 48%, followed by the identification of fungal structures with 10 cases being 32%, 2 cases of Trichomonas vaginalis with 6% and 4 cases of mixed vaginal infections by 13%. Among the factors causing hygiene vaginal infections was found 68% of cases where users with a history of vaginal infection, 67 % in those visiting the gynecologist every 6 months, 77 % of cases in which users performed their intimate room 1 time per week, 66% in those using white soap for intimate hygiene and 64 % in patients using panty liners during the menstrual cycle.
