To achieve a systematic and organized development of the project, it was structured in different sections that belong to a specific part of the research study.In the beginning,a brief introductiontofiber optic networks was made; the main features andadvantagesof thepassive optical networkbasedsystems wereespeciallyanalyzed. Furthermore, it was investigated the phenomena that affectsthe optical fiber,the existing types and their application depending on thetransport capacity andoperatingoptical windows. As well as the elements that are part ofan opticaltransmission system were described. Besides, the main network architectures that currently exist depending on the coverage of fiber to the user, as well as standards for access networks, passive optical and specifically the recommendations related to the GPON standard were presented. Subsequent, a survey and information collection of the transport needs of the users were carried out, the solutions that the standard currently presents for architecture, kinds of protection and topology were investigated, specifying the active elements, passive components and distribution models for the implementation of a GPON network, emphasizing the description of the requirements and indispensable features to be considered for its selection. Then the results were presented, which are a result of analyzing the several possible solutions presented in the previous section, specifically based on the advantages and disadvantages of each of these and their level of adaptability with the study scenarioIt was made a selection of the network model allowing to achieve a network of access with a high degree of efficiency, flexibility and availability.Finally, after the network solution was determined, it was necessary to select equipment manufacturers, based on the technical specifications presented by each of these and its adaptability to the requirements of the present project. |
