Resumo:The development of oral language is natural, but sometimes children do not have an adequate command of the language and their pronunciation is not appropriate according to their age. In order to address this problem, we have developed this research entitled: Children's tales and oral language in children aged 4 to 5 from the Monseñor Jorge Guillermo Armijos municipal school, period 2023-2024. Its general objective was to analyse the influence of the use of children's stories on the development of oral language in children aged four to five from the Monseñor Jorge Guillermo Armijos municipal school, period 2023 – 2024; It was a study of a qualitative approach, descriptive type, quasi-experimental design, and cross-sectional. As a research instrument, an interview guide and observation guide were applied to a teacher, which served significantly in data collection. The sample population used was in the Monseñor Jorge Guillermo Armijos municipal school, where through non-probabilistic sampling, we selected a teacher. The results found with the application of these instruments and through the data triangulation, followed by a discussion of the results, evidenced that the teacher sometimes includes children's stories in the classroom to stimulate their oral language; however, it is necessary to emphasise that the main purpose of using children's stories as a pedagogical resource is to stimulate oral language, improve oral expression and enhance children's vocabulary. As a conclusion, the teacher has little interest in using children's stories as a means to support children in their improvement of oral language; therefore, it is necessary to design a guide of activities to implement children's stories in the stimulation of oral language called ‘Stories that awaken voices’, in which teachers and children interact, and through which children will improve their language skills in a fun way. Keywords: Story, stimulate, linguistic skills, language, vocabulary.
