الملخص:This research's main objective is to investigate the problems of alcohol consumption in medical students and their family relationships by interpreting the results of two questionnaires that measure the degree of alcohol consumption and family relationships. This is a quantitative, analytical and cross-sectional study applied to 50 internal students of human medicine at the National University of Loja. Two questionnaires allowed evaluating the degree of alcohol (Questionnaire Identification Disorders due to Alcohol) designed by the WHO, and the degree of family relationships (Relationship Assessment Scale Family). By analyzing the questionnaires, it was determined as the main result that in all alcohol groups in which students were classified are in more relation with an average degree of family relationship. This result was established by interpreting the results from each group of alcohol and family relations of students: those who alcohol consumption was safely and those classified as hazardous drinking had mostly an average degree of family relationship and the remaining minority had a high level of family relationship; students who were classified as having harmful use presented in its entirety an average degree of family relationship, and finally were not found students with a low degree of family relationship. The present study could contribute to the approach of preventive programs in relation to consumption of alcohol to be applied in the university environment, mainly based on improving the degree of family relations.
