| Summary: | The purpose of this study is the determination of cervical length and risk factors that could predict the preterm delivery. It is an analytical prospective and cross sectional study, performed at Isidro Ayora Hospital of Loja, from December 2012 to June 2013. The sample was composed of 97 pregnant women between 20 to 36.6 weeks, with a diagnosis of threatened premature labor. In order to perform this study we measured the cervical length by transvaginal ultrasonography, then we identified the risk factors through a survey. In the results 35.05 % presented cervicometry of 25mm, 76.74 % of these ended up in preterm labor, 28.87 % are less than 19 years old, 94.84 % were found between 20 to 29 weeks of gestation, 48.45 % are multiparous women, 64, 20% had intergenesic period of 1 to 5 years, 21.65% had history of abortion, 2,06 % were a multiple pregnancy women, 34.57 % had preterm birth, 31.96 % got surgical interventions remain the 26.80 % by cesarean section; 35.05 % used barrier methods of birth control; 42.27 % had late or no prenatal care; 31.96 % without high school diploma, 65.98 % are housekeeping, 48.45 % are women in free union, 65.98 % paid rent, 9.59% are active smoke women, 36.08% drink alcohol; 78.35 % present urinary tract infection. Considered these results we notice the implementation of the protocol of the Public Health Ministry is incomplete in 58.76 %.
