| Gaia: | High blood pressure is a risk factor for cardiovascular disease, stroke, and chronic kidney disease, affecting millions of people worldwide. Alterations in the lipid profile, known as dyslipidemias, are closely related to hypertension and are an additional risk factor for cardiovascular disease. At the Motupe University Health Center, the lack of comprehensive analysis of the lipid profile prevents adequate surveillance of hypertensive patients. In this study, the frequency of dyslipidemias and the influence of age and sex on cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, and LDL levels were analyzed in hypertensive patients treated at the Motupe University Health Center between September 2024 and February 2025. The design was analytical, cross-sectional. Blood samples were taken and analyzed using standardized methodologies in the laboratories of the National University of Loja. The results showed that approximately 25% of hypertensive patients had dyslipidemia, with increased levels of cholesterol (80%), triglycerides (65%) and LDL (95%), and decreased levels of HDL (40%). However, no statistically significant relationship was found between cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, and LDL levels according to the age and sex of the patients, because the p values were greater than 0,05 |
