| Izvleček: | Unemployment is a problem that seriously affects the Ecuadorian population, over time it has played an important role in the economy. In 2021, the unemployment rate grew 6.43% compared to 2020. In this context, the present work analyses the impact of economic growth, technology, institutional quality and globalization in Ecuador during 1990-2021, using descriptive methods, statistical and econometric, in order to propose policies aimed at reducing unemployment in the country. Statistical information is collected from databases, the World Bank, Worldwide Governance Indicators (WGI) and the Swiss Economic Institute (KOF). An econometric model of time series data was used, the Johansen cointegration test was estimated to determine structural patterns in the country, a Vector Autoregressive Model (VAR) to verify if there is a long-term relationship and estimate the relationship of causality between the variables of the model on unemployment, to establish long-term policies that reduce unemployment levels. The results show that the evolution of variables tends to fluctuate over time, a long-term relationship between these GDP, technology and institutional quality with unemployment is concluded through VAR model. It was found that there is unidirectional causality that goes from economic growth to technology, and that there is bidirectional causality from unemployment to economic growth. Consequently, policies should be applied that are aimed at providing alternative solutions that stimulate the creation of sources of work and that function in greater investment in education.
