It is a chronic condition that has to prevalence of over 25% in the adult western population. Approximately 1-2% of hypertensive patients will develop a hypertensive crisis (emergency or urgent) at some point in Their Lives. A hypertensive crisis (HC) is clinical situations that could endanger the life of the hypertensive subject. They are more common in the elderly and in evil, with a 2:1 ratio. Over 50% of the HC are attributed to therapeutic abandonment in the previous week. This study was a prospective, descriptive and cross Isidro Ayora Regional Hospital in the city of Loja Which emergency for this study Determined the hypertensive crises in patients with a previous diagnosis of hypertension emergency service "Isidro Ayora Hospital" in the city of Loja, Identify the urgency and hypertensive emergency in patients with a previous diagnosis of hypertension, determine the treatment used in the management of hypertensive crises in hypertensive patients, Develop management and treatment protocol for hypertensive crisis. Found That, of the 238 hypertensive patients Studied, 61.8% (147) had hypertensive crisis, Of which 98.6% (145) are Hypertensive urgency, 73.5% female and the age Were at Which is mostly presented 57 Years with 53% of hypertensive crises . Headache is the main symptom found in cases of crises, with 37% of the total. Captopril sublingual dose of 25mg to 50mg is The Most Widely used drug with 39% of cases. In 10% of cases the protocol was Implemented by the Ministry of Health.
