| Sumari: | Natural resources are a fundamental factor for economic growth. Worldwide, the income from natural resources as a percentage of GDP was 1.96%, a figure that decreased with respect to the previous year. Furthermore, developing countries such as Ecuador depend mainly on oil and non-oil exports since they have a significant influence on the development of the economy. In this sense, the aim of this research is to evaluate the effect of natural resources rent on Ecuador's economic growth from 1970 to 2020 through a statistical and econometric analysis, with the purpose of proposing strategies to reduce dependence on commodities. For conducting the research study, we used data available from the World Bank [WB] (2021). The methodology used was based on the analysis of the evolution of variables, short and long term cointegration test, and causality for time series. The results obtained show a statistically significant relationship in the short and long term between the variables used in the model. In addition, it was found that there is no causal relationship between fixed gross capita formation and GDP per capita. Base don the results obtained, a public investment policy is recommended, as well as providing training for workers in the agricultural sector about implementing environmentally friendly agricultural techniques and practices. |
