الملخص: | Mental health is a fundamental aspect in the life of each person, particularly during adolescence, due to the changes that are experienced at this age makes them susceptible to not accepting assertively the variations within their environment and negatively affect psychological level. The COVID-19 pandemic stage brought with it an increase in effects such as anxiety, stress and depression, exacerbated by restrictive and confinement measures. The purpose of this study was to establish the psychological effects on the adolescent population of the "Nuestra Señora del Rosario" Fiscomisional Educational Unit in the Catamayo Canton due to the COVID-19 pandemic, through a quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional approach. The technique used for data collection was the survey through the application of the Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale (Test DASS-42), with a sample made up of 245 students selected by stratified probabilistic sampling. The results show women between the ages of 15 and 19 as predominant sociodemographic characteristics, mostly belonging to the tenth year and coming from urban areas. Likewise, it is reflected that 63.3% of adolescents present some degree of anxiety, 63.2% depression and 42.8% stress. In addition, it is shown that there is a statistically significant relationship between sex, academic year and origin with the presence of psychological effects in adolescents. Therefore, the most significant psychological effects due to the COVID-19 pandemic correspond to anxiety and depression that considerably affect different individual, social, affective and behavioral areas and imply an alteration in the mental balance of adolescents during this period. malleability and cognitive and psychosocial vulnerability |
