सारांश:The risk of falls syndrome constitutes one of the greatest geriatric syndromes that can generate traumatic injuries for the elderly. The estimation of the annual incidence of falls in adults aged 65 to 70 years is 25% and at the age of 80 to 85 years, it is 30 to 35%, being more frequent in women among the risk factors we have hearing disorders, where it occupies the second most prevalent place in older adults who suffer from falls. This research aimed to determine the risk of fall síndrome and verify the presence of hearing impairment in adults over 65 years of age. A prospective descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out with a population of 50 patients who attend in the Daniel Álvarez Health Center in the city of Loja. To collect the information, it was applying the Modified Tinetti Scale test and subsequently performing an otoscopy to assess the ear of each patient. The results obtained indicated that there is a higher prevalence of risk of falls in the female sex in the age group of 75 to 84 years with 32.3% (n = 10), in addition, it was evidenced that 54.8% (n = 17) of the female sex had a hearing impairment and it was found that 19.4% (n = 6) of the female sex had a medium risk of falling and hearing impairment, unlike the male sex who presented 5.3% Keywords: female sex, Modified Tinetti scale, otoscopy.
