Caracterización clínica y quirúrgica de pacientes circuncidados en el Barrio Cuarto Centenario

Circumcision is a surgical procedure in which part of the foreskin, the skin that covers the tip of the penis, is removed, which is a health practice in the male population. The present research work was carried out in the Cuarto Centenario neighborhood of the city of Loja, the general objective was to clinically and surgically characterize circumcised patients in the Cuarto Centenario neighborhood, during the year 2022. A cross-sectional quantitative study was carried out, not experimental, with a sample of 255 patients surveyed, 54.51% (139) of the patients were not circumcised and 45.49% (116), if they underwent surgery, among the causes are that hygiene dominates with a 50.86% (59), later phimosis and paraphimosis with 37.93% (44), infections 10.34% (12) and a minority frenectomy 0.86% (1). Of the circumcised patients, it was determined that 43.10% (50) had no complications, and those who suffered complications presented edema 39.66% (46), bleeding 9.48% (11), infection 6.90% (8 ) and with dehiscences 0.86 (1). It was evident that 99.14% (115) of patients presented improvement and that 0.86% (1) presented partial improvement and it was determined that all resolved the cause for which the surgery was performed. Circumcision is a beneficial procedure without risks and those circumcised improved their quality of life, so it is determined that it is a safe process and that it should be implemented
