الملخص:This descriptive study aimed to identify the knowledge and practices of sexuality to prevent teen pregnancy school "Fernando Suarez Palace" del Barrio Carigan. The sample consisted of 75 adolescents from high school in ages ranging from 10 to 19 years, who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. A questionnaire composed of two parts was used. The first to identify knowledge consisted of multiple-choice questions, each with 5 options, one of which was correct. The second part was used to identify practices and consisted of 16 closed questions with answer options yes and no. The analysis of the data the following results were obtained: more than half of these teenagers know about the definition of sexuality; most have ignorance in relevant aspects of sexuality as menstrual cycle, identifying their genitals and knowledge of the cycle of human sexual response; however, almost half it is known about the barrier methods. With regard to sexual practices over half started sexual life. Of these, one third had two or more sexual partners and more than half have had sex without contraception. Depending on the results concluded that adolescents have ignorance on important aspects of sexuality, sexually active at a young age, there is sexual promiscuity and many teens do not use contraception during intercourse to prevent pregnancy; to be a significant problem in this establishment is recommended that educational talks on issues of how to prevent pregnancy provide; use, advantages and disadvantages of contraceptive methods, where and how to obtain them; risks of sexual promiscuity and emphasis on the appropriate time to determine the onset of sexual life, thus avoiding responsibilities of pregnancy and parenthood at an early age so that girls and boys enjoy their adolescence responsibly.
