| Shrnutí: | Power asymmetry in gender violence is an entrenched phenomenon that refers to the inequality of power between men and women that manifests itself through acts of violence affecting diverse populations worldwide; in the Latin American context, specifically in Ecuador, gender violence continues to be a significant concern, the general objective of this research is to analyze the Asymmetry of power in gender violence in the southern region of Ecuador to know who are the people most affected by gender violence, we used the Inductive-Deductive Methods, and the Synthetic Analytical Method, we used a quantitative approach with a data collection technique that we obtained from an existing database of a research project of the National University of Loja, entitled "Asymmetry of power in gender violence; the results revealed that gender violence affects a significant portion of the population studied, women were the predominant victims, although we also identified cases of violence against men and LGBTI people, we observed multiple forms of violence, including psychological, physical, verbal, sexual, economic and political. In addition, we found that gender violence had different frequencies, from daily to never and varied according to geographical location and marital status of individuals; finally, we developed a prevention proposal for the community of the southern region of Ecuador: Loja, El Oro and Zamora Chinchipe to raise public awareness, improving the training of professionals, revaluing the protection of victims and the enactment of effective laws. The data collected provide a solid basis for future studies and interventions in the region, highlighting the need for awareness and cultural change to eradicate gender-based violence in all spheres of society |
