Özet:The objective of this research work was to improve English vocabulary through authentic material activities among students of tenth year “B” of Basic Education, afternoon session at Unidad Educativa Dr. Manuel Agustín Cabrera Lozano, in the city of Loja during the 2018-2019 school year. The methods applied for this investigation were the scientific that provided information to design the intervention plan; the descriptive to describe student’s behavior; the statistical to represent quantitative and qualitative data; the analytic-synthetic to interpret the information. Test and questionnaires were the instruments to collect data about students’ knowledge and attitude towards authentic material activities; the observation sheet and field notes to describe activities, reaction, and progress students made. The results showed that students achieved a significant improvement in English vocabulary. Authentic material activities were effective to change students’ attitude towards activities, students worked cooperatively, interacted in class, they were interested and enthusiasm in learning.
