| Summary: | The research was carried out with the general objective of analyzing the contribution of microcredits in the socio-economic development of formal merchants in the central market of the city of Catamayo during the period 2018-2022. Therefore, a longitudinal study was designed, with a mixed approach, on an explanatory and descriptive study, using deductive, analytical, synthetic and inductive methods. Besides, an interview was carried out with two financial entities and a survey with 186 merchants. As a result, it was known that, in the private sector, the demand for credit has increased in the last five years, while some merchants obtained, through access to microcredits, an increase in sources of employment, income and saving capacity, while their financial needs implied lower interest rates with a longer term for loan repayment and a grace period being granted. It is concluded that microcredits have contributed significantly to some merchants in the central market of Catamayo, since they have obtained benefits such as increasing their income by 31%, sales have grown by up to 50%, in addition, managing to acquire more products for their sale, and they managed to hire a worker; On the other hand, for some merchants it has not been so beneficial, since the microcredit lines already established in the credit market do not fully cover their financial needs. |
