Prácticas de los profesionales de la salud en el fomento del apego inmediato posparto en el Centro Obstétrico del HIA

The postpartum attachment (PA), is defined as the Skin-skin contact (SSC) of the newborn with his mother immediately after to be born, and for a time lapse not less than 30 minutes, moment witch start different reactions both physical and psychological that induce a countless of benefits like a stronger affective link, and a better hemodynamic stability for the neonate and the mother, thus decreasing the morbidity and mortality of newborn and puerperium complications. The present document is focused in founding if the health professionals have the practice of foment the PA in the “Isidro Ayora” hospital in Loja city; establish whether according to skill level of professional health received instruction about PA; identify the causes that detain to professionals’ health have the practice of foment the AP. This thesis is prospective, longitudinal and exploratory type, in which it was possible to obtain the necessary data through direct observation and the use of records cards and surveys aimed at those responsible for delivery care. We could see that the 100% of specialists, residents doctors and medicine interns that work in the area of obstetrics and gynecology, NOT apply the PA as part of the treatment protocol, despite having adequate knowledge in most cases on this issue. It was possible to determine that the main cause which prevents the application of PA in this hospital is because is not a habit to do it; this is supported by 26% of the health professionals respondents.
