Resumo:Chronic non-communicable diseases, which include diabetes mellitus and arterial hypertension, represent one of the greatest challenges for the public health system. The objective of this research was to identify the teaching staff with chronic non-communicable diseases of the Universidad Nacional de Loja, period October 2022 - February 2023. It is a study with a quantitative approach, non-experimental design, descriptive study with a cross-sectional scope, whose population corresponded to 42 teachers diagnosed with hypertension or diabetes. A questionnaire called "Therapeutic Behavior: Illness or Injury (Code 1609)", was conducted in order to evaluate the sociodemographic, clinical characteristics and therapeutic adherence by means of 34 items. The results of this research show that the group aged 58 to 63 years prevails (38.1%), men stand out (64.29%), the majority (90.48%) come from the urban area, and are married (61.90%); as for their academic training, the highest percentage has a master's degree (64.29%); 9.52% are currently working in Business Administration and Psychopedagogy, 61.9% have arterial hypertension, all of which corresponds to the essential-primary type. Concerning the point prevalence of chronic non-communicable diseases, it was estimated at 5.78%; with respect to therapeutic adherence, it was identified: consumption of medications (92.86%), exercise at least 4 times a week (42.86%), compliance with a diet low in salt (73.81%) and sugar (88.10%), alcohol consumption (23.81%), active smoking (11.90%), attending scheduled appointments (97.62%), frequent blood pressure and/or glucometry (73.81%), modifying work/home tasks to comply with treatment (26.19%), and sleeping 6 to 8 hours a day (80.95%). It is concluded that there is compliance with several therapeutic recommendations in the study population; however, the dimension of physical activity should be strengthened
