| Summary: | Coronavirus disease 2019, also known as COVID-19, is characterized by fever dry cough, shortness of breath, and tachypnea. Diagnosis is made after the analysis of biological samples such as sputum/lower respiratory tract and nasopharyngeal swabs, among others. There are several COVID-19 prevention and control procedures that can be applied within the community, including handwashing, personal protective equipment and immunization. The research aims to determine the epidemiological behavior on SARS-CoV-2 according to age, sex, canton and proportional trends based on the climatic season in the province of Loja from 2020 to 2022, with the objective of formulating an education proposal for prevention. This was an analytic study with a mixed approach using a cross-sectional cohort. The study population consisted of 647 cases which were obtained from the epidemiological bulletins of the National University of Loja. The results showed that the highest number of cases occurred in men with 50.2% compared to women, with a predominance in the age group of 15 to 19 at 49.5%. The canton with the most infections was Loja, representing 90.4%. As for proportional trends, there were more cases during the dry season with 55,2% than in the cold season with 81.6%. Likewise, an audiovisual resource was developed which covered topics such as definition, transmission, symptoms, and prevention, with the aim of raising awareness among the population so that the procedures can be applied |
