Calidad de vida en pacientes con lupus eritematoso sistémico tratados en el hospital Manuel Ygnacio Monteros

Systemic lupus erythematosus is an autoimmune disorder which affects numerous organs and systems, it can affect all ages but is more frequently in adults between 18 and 50 years old, predominantly female. The quality of life encompasses the situation of an individual, his relationship with the environment and his socio-environmental interaction. The purpose of this study was to determine the quality of life in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus treated at “Manuel Ygnacio Monteros Hospital” in July-December 2018, establish differences according to age group and sex, and identify its correlation with the functional disability index. A sample of 31 people was obtained, two questionnaires were used, SF36 for quality of life and HAQ to measure functional disability. Obtaining as results that, in the physical component, the age groups between 31-40 and 41-50 years, 62.5% of the patients obtained averages over 50.1 points, reflecting better physical function, while ages between 51 and 60 years 78.6% reached values less than 50 points, manifesting inappropriate physical function. In mental role, the mean in participants between 41 and 50 years was 79.1% expressing adequate emotional stability, and the group between 51 and 60 years 85.7%, exhibited values less than 50 points, finally, through the correlation of Spearman, a highly significant association between functional disability and quality of life is evident, obtaining the same results for both domains, (r = 0.800, p = 0.01).
