| Shrnutí: | The basic cognitive processes of attention and memory are inherent to reading comprehension, a fundamental element of education, which is why the aim of this research was to analyse the relationship between the level of the basic cognitive processes of attention and memory and reading comprehension in first cycle students of the parallel "A" degree in Public Administration at the FJSA, 2023-2024. Quantitative approach study, descriptive, correlational and cross-sectional, non-experimental design. The sample consisted of 18 students. The d2 Attention test, the memory subscale of the RIAS test and the instrument for measuring reading comprehension in university students (ICLAU) were applied. SPSS was used to process the data. Kendall's Tau-b was used for the correlation between variables and Pearson's linear correlation coefficient was used for the analysis and interpretation. The results show that 83.33% have a low level of attention and 66.7% have a low level of memory. Regarding reading comprehension, 44.4% are at a low level. It is concluded that there is a positive correlation between the study variables, the correlation between attention and reading comprehension of medium magnitude and the correlation between memory and reading comprehension, of weak magnitude, therefore, the alternative hypothesis (H1) is sustained, which sustains that the basic cognitive processes of attention and memory do have a significant relationship with the levels involved in reading comprehension. |
