We aimed to determine how family abandonment with depressive states specifically attended to; investigate the consequences of family abandonment in affective states of the elderly; depressive states specify the Elderly; and develop a plan of psychoeducation, in order that older adults admitted to the Nursing Home "Daniel Alvarez Sanchez", receive tools to enable them to cope adequately their depressive states and thus improve their quality of life, research is social science, crosscutting, with quantitative and qualitative approach, in addition to using such scientific methods as deductive, inductive, analytical, synthetic and statistical model, using techniques and tools as psychological clinical observation, structured survey aimed at professionals and the rating scale for depression of Hamilton, is evidence that most families never visit the elderly, affecting who are dejected, listless, apathetic in situations of contact with others, insecure, demonstrating clear expansions sadness and tearfulness, because most have levels of depression, exhibiting a higher percentage of moderate type. That’s why the need to intervene in perspective of providing care to the elderly, by coping techniques to improve your emotional state.
