Yhteenveto:This research project makes reference to: CHILDREN´S LITERATURE AND ITS INFLUENCE IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF CREATIVITY IN THE BOYS AND GIRLS OF THE FIRST GRADE OF BASIC EDUCATION IN THE PUBLIC SCHOOL “CIUDAD DE IBARRA” OF THE CITY OF JOYA DE LOS SACHAS, IN THE 2013-2014 SCHOOL YEAR. The general objective of the research is: To analyze the influence that the teachers´ use of Children´s Literature has on the Development of Creativity in the boys and girls of First Grade of Basic Education in the Public School “Ciudad de Ibarra” of the City of Joya de los Sachas, in the 2013-2014 school year. The methods used for the selection and study of data were: Scientific, Inductive-Deductive, Analytic-Synthetic and Descriptive; these served to present the relationship and importance of the use of children´s literature to the development of creativity. The techniques used were: a questionnaire given to the teachers to establish the kinds of children´s literature that they use in their day-to-day work, and a Test to Evaluate Creativity, applied to the children to determine the development of their creativity. One hundred percent of the teachers questioned used the following types of children´s literature: popular stories, fables, rhymes, riddles and tongue twisters; 50% used classical stories, emphasizing the importance that literature for children has in the integral formation of the child, and that through stories, a fascinating activity of transformation, of enchantment, of liberation, the child is invited to develop his potential creativity, that translates into the creation of novel ideas and effective solutions to the problems that arise. In the results of the Test to Evaluate Creativity, 52% of the girls and boys obtained a high level of creativity with scores of 7.5—10, and 38% of the boys and girls obtained a Medium-High level with scores of 5—7.5, which permits them to be referred to as a group with opportunities to develop abilities and talents, with the capacity to transcend limitations and project their thoughts towards finding the solution to problems and other tasks which require their creative competence. Nevertheless, 8% of the boys and girls obtained a Medium-Low level of creativity with scores of 2.5—5, and 2% of the boys and girls obtain a Low level of creativity with scores of 0—2.5. It is necessary to state that creativity can be perfected and the creative process develops when there is a minimum of favorable conditions.
