| Shrnutí: | Qualitative and quantitative feed restrictions are tools in poultry production to improve performance, digestive health and production costs. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of feed restriction on digestive parameters in broilers, carried out at the Center for Research, Development and Innovation in Animal Nutrition at the National University of Loja. Three hundred Cobb 500 broilers were randomly distributed in ten experimental units with ten observational units, applying three treatments: ad libitum control, qualitative restriction (10% less energy and protein) and quantitative restriction (10% less feed). The diets were formulated according to the nutritional requirements of the Cobb 500 line and fed during the growth stage, from day 9 to 26 of age. On day 26, one animal per experimental unit was sacrificed for data collection. Absolute and relative weights and lengths of total digestive tract, small intestine, gizzard and cecum, cecal and gizzard pH were evaluated. The results showed statistical difference p =0.001 in the quantitative restriction for absolute weight of gizzard with 59.2 g and, for the qualitative restriction in relative weight of cecum 0.9 %, relative length of small intestine 14.8 %, right cecum 1.4 % and left cecum 1.3 %, as well as for pH in gizzard and cecum. No significant difference was observed in absolute weights of digestive tract, small intestine and cecum nor in relative weights of digestive tract, small intestine and gizzard, nor in absolute lengths of small intestine and right and left cecum. It is concluded that qualitative feed restriction improves digestive parameters in broilers. |
