| Résumé: | Effective clinical management of the pediatric patients in dentistry is essential to ensure appropriate behaviour during the treatment. The progress and overall success of the dental treatment can be significantly affected by the lack of cooperation from the child. It is important that the clinical experience is perceived by the child as a positive and reassuring visit, designed to make them feel comfortable and avoid creating traumatic or negative associations. Considering the issues described above, this study is conducted to examine effective strategies for the management of patients who present with anxiety, fear, and uncooperative behaviour in the context of dental care. This study adopts a qualitative approach and is characterized by its analytical, descriptive, cross-sectional and bibliographic nature. It includes 33 articles published between 2013 and 2024, selected according to predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. These articles are obtained from databases such as Scielo, Dialnet, ResearchGate and PubMed. The results show that fear is the most common emotion experienced during dental treatment with 41%, followed by anxiety with 37.93%. In addition, denial and rejection are identified as significant behaviors with a frequency of 23.2%. In terms of the most commonly used techniques, pharmacological methods are the most common (28%). This is followed by distraction techniques (26%). In conclusion, effective engagement of the pediatric patient provides a better understanding of their behaviour and enables the use of appropriate techniques to encourage cooperation, while building a strong relationship to ensure successful completion of the dental procedure |
