| Summary: | The present study is titled: The role of parents in the development of social skills of children from 2 to 3 years old of the Creciendo con Nuestros Hijos (CNH) Program "Los Geranios - Los Cocos" of the City of Loja, in the academic year 2017-2018. The general objective was to identify how the role of parents influences, through the participation in learning environments, and thereby enhances, the development of social skills of children. The scientific, analytical synthetic, descriptive and statistical methods were adopted. An interview guide and a survey to evaluate the role of the parents were used to obtain the data that allowed to justify this study. The development of Social Skills was assessed with an observation form, which was compared with the Social Skills Scale (Ana Betina Lacunza), with the purpose of obtaining real data of the children's social skills development. The results showed that 81% of the children present problems in the development of social skills. When applying the “School for Parents", and later run the Post-Scale Social Skills (Ana Betina Lacunza), the results showed that 95 % had strengthened their social skills. It was concluded that 5% of the children do not dominate social skills because their parents do not fulfill their role. It is recommended to encourage them to enhance these skills through recreational activities so that the children do not have adaptation and acceptance problems at the beginning of the school stage because at this stage they acquire the essential learning for social success |
