| Samenvatting: | The Amazon region of Ecuador is distinguished by its humid tropical climate, which clearly causes soil drainage problems. These kinds of issues are mainly a consequence of the abundant rainfall and the shape of the area’s relief. Therefore, this research work aimed to design an agricultural drainage system for the Guambime sector that is in the province of Zamora Chinchipe. This project was developed with the purpose of improving the production and quality of the grass cultivation. To develop it, the first step was perforate the soil to get analysis of different features, texture, soil bulk density, field capacity, permanent wilting point; aiming to understand its structure and composition. In addition, observation wells were made to determine the hydraulic conductivity; and a topographical survey was carried out to obtain a detailed data on the elevations of the study area. Besides, the return periods of precipitation at El Pangui station to two, five and ten years were analyzed, calculating the design flows of the study area. This allowed to know the equation for calculating the design rainfall and, consequently, to get the flow data. In the study area the results were a sandy loam soil texture and a sandy clay loam texture, with a water table of 0.60 m and a drainage profundity of 0.60 m, which is a suitable radicular depth of grass cultivation. The result of the drainage system design proposal includes a natural drainage, a secondary drainage and three lateral drains. |
