Description
Summary:In this thesis a methodology for the control and regulation of harmonics in industrial power systems is presented. In chapter one generalities about harmonic distortion limits for industrial consumers, the effect it has on the system harmonic voltages defined. Furthermore harmonic generating sources and levels in percent of harmonic current introduced into the network in each case are defined. In chapter two different types of filters, their characteristics, design and selection are discussed. In chapter three the simulation of a passive filter in Matlab is performed taking into consideration different non-linear loads and their interaction with the network. In chapter four energy consumption is calculated and an economic assessment is carried out in correspondence of the losses caused by the circulation of harmonic currents in the system.
