Achoimre: | Parasitic diseases constitute a public health problem because they are distributed throughout the world and cause significant morbidity and mortality. In Ecuador, intestinal parasitosis is the third most frequent disease, occupying the 80% of the rural population and 40% of the marginal urban area. Anemia is also a major Public Health problem, it is estimated that 30% of the world's population suffers from some type of anemia, the most affected are rural populations in developing countries. Due to the severity of the clinical picture consistent with the pathologies mentioned, it was proposed to study the cases of parasitosis and its relationship with anemia; the incidence of intestinal parasitosis and to classify the degree of anemia. The work was carried out in 6 neighborhoods of the Santiago parish; 87 participants were studied, in whom blood and stool samples were collected for analysis. 53 women and 34 men participated, of which 51 women (97.8%) and 33 men (97.10%) had positive results of parasitosis. There is a greater incidence of parasitosis of cysts of Entamoeba histolytica (61.30%) followed by cysts of Entamoeba coli (32.10%) and Giardia lamblia (6.60%). Classifying the degree of anemia according to hemoglobin values, 3 cases of mild anemia (3.40%) were obtained, the Chi-square statistical test was used to establish the relationship between intestinal parasitosis and anemia, concluding that there is no significant statistical relationship between them.
