description The present research work focuses on the design and construction of a biophotovoltaic lamp, which seeks to explore the feasibility and efficiency of the energy produced by plants and microorganisms to light an LED lamp. The prototype mainly integrates clay PMFC cells with carbon, graphite and aluminum electrodes. In addition, it implements several cutting-edge technologies such as super capacitors, which stand out for their ultra-fast charging time, and SMD LED lights, which provide harmonious illumination with low energy consumption. However, the big challenge of biophotovoltaics is the low output currents, because the energy is obtained through the oxidation of biomass (exudates) rather than collecting energy directly from the photosystems. The latter method is more complex and in most cases directly harms the photosynthetic species, being an area of study still under development. The results of this research will encourage the development of new biophotovoltaic energy harvesting techniques based on the Redox effect, type of membrane, positioning and type of electrodes, thus expanding the field of renewable and sustainable energies. Keywords: Biophotovoltaics, BPV, electrodes, PMFC, MFC, redox.El presente trabajo de investigación se centra en el diseño y construcción de una lámpara biofotovoltaica, en el cual se busca explorar la viabilidad y eficiencia de la energía producida por las plantas y microorganismos para encender una lámpara LED. El prototipo integra principalmente celdas PMFC de arcilla con electrodos de carbono, grafito y aluminio. Además, implementa diversas tecnologías de vanguardia como son los supercondensadores, que se destacan por su tiempo de carga ultrarrápido, y luces LED SMD, que brindan una iluminación armoniosa con bajo consumo energético. Sin embargo, el gran desafío de la energía biofotovoltaica son las bajas corrientes de salida, debido a que la energía se obtiene a través de la oxidación de biomasa (exudados) en lugar de recolectar la energía directamente de los fotosistemas. Este último método es más complejo y en la mayoría de los casos perjudica directamente a la especie fotosintética, siendo un área de estudios aún en desarrollo. Los resultados de esta investigación impulsarán a desarrollar nuevas técnicas de recolección de energía biofotovoltaica basadas en el efecto redox, tipo de membrana, posicionamiento y tipo de electrodos, expandiendo así el campo de las energías renovables y sostenibles.
