| Summary: | Acute appendicitis is the most common cause of severe abdominal pain, sudden and of emergency abdominal surgery in many countries. It continues to be a picture that requires an excellent clinical trial to perform a correct diagnosis that does not lead to an unnecessary surgery. The use of inflammatory reactants such as reactive protein C and leukocyte could be helpful to diagnose cases of clinical suspicion. Due to the lack of studies on the association of both tests in patients with acute appendicitis, the following study was necessary. The main objective was to determine the utility of Reactive Protein C and its relation with the values of leukocyte count according to the degree of evolution of the acute appendicitis. The following investigation is an analytical and transversal type in which a clinical file was used to collect the data. The universe was constituted of 177 cases during the period of January- June 2016, due to the low number of cases it was not necessary to perform a sampling. It was determined that in level II and III the Reactive Protein C rises in a larger number of patients (64 and 65 respectively) being less in level I. In the case of leukocyte is higher in degrees III and IV (46 and 60 respectively). It is concluded that there is a close relationship between leukocyte count and the serum values of C - reactive protein (CRP) with the degrees of evolution of acute appendicitis.
