Additionally, barriers and challenges were identified, such as limited understanding of students' needs, lack of specialized training, and the absence of manuals, guides, or protocols to guide the development of curricular adaptations. Therefore, it was recommended to implement ongoing training events for teachers, as well as the creation of a manual for designing curricular adaptations to ensure sustainability and long-term effectiveness. |

Therefore, it was recommended to implement ongoing training events for teachers, as well as the creation of a manual for designing curricular adaptations to ensure sustainability and long-term effectiveness.La presente investigación se orientó en caracterizar el diseño de adaptaciones curriculares realizado por los docentes para estudiantes con discapacidad psicosocial de la Universidad Nacional de Loja, así como identificar los desafíos y barreras que dificultan el diseño de adaptaciones curriculares y, plantear una propuesta de diseño de adaptaciones curriculares para esta población estudiantil. Se empleó un enfoque mixto, diseño no experimental de tipo descriptivo con corte transversal, con muestra no probabilística, se utilizó encuestas y entrevistas semiestructuradas para recopilar datos de docentes y funcionarios de Bienestar Universitario. Como resultados se obtuvo que los docentes utilizan diversas estrategias en el diseño de adaptaciones curriculares, pero se evidenció que varía su calidad y efectividad debido a la falta de formación específica y recursos adaptados. Además, se identificaron barreras y desafíos como la limitada comprensión de las necesidades de los estudiantes, la falta de formación especializada y la ausencia de manuales, guías o protocolos que orienten el desarrollo de adaptaciones curriculares.
